Where Google Is Heading – the Final Road Map?
(rt) In a U. S. patent application filed 31 March, 2005 and titled “Information retrieval based on historical data”, Google truly lets the cat out of the bag once and for all: it’s a very technical paper but if you read the fine print you’ll find hard confirmation of what Google critics have surmised all along.
Obviously, even though it’s still an application, not an awarded patent yet, this is a very telling document. We won’t go into the details here as it requires some very thorough analysis first which will probably take a week or two. However, we do suggest you check the pertinent forums and blogs where it’s already begun to create a major buzz.
And no, we’re not saying this piece spills the beans on Google’s full current ranking algo, but at the very least it gives everyone a pretty clear indication of where they may be heading.
