WebPosition Banned On Google
(rt) Michael Nguyen reports on his Social Patterns blog that WebPosition have had both their sites → webposition.com and → webpositiongold.com banned from the Google index.
Their market leading SEO software generates a lot of automatic queries both for ranking reports and for keyword evaluation, and it seems Google didn’t appreciate that. Michael points out a remark by GoogleGuy on WebmasterWorldForum referring to such programs and underlining that Google was going to take some affirmative action to thwart them.
Not that this is particularly new: old SEO /SEM hands will recall WebPosition’s problems with AltaVista back in the days when Google was just another snotty little upstart with an attitude, relentlessly scraping their competitors’ indices …
Here’s Michael’s take:

Seems that they are back in the index now.
