Expectably, there has also been some debate on whether there’s enough of a “critical mass” of discontented web publishers to actually leave a footprint in Google’s earning scale. While this still seems dubious at best at the moment, we do expect flares of this kind to reoccur in dwindling lapses within the foreseeable future: with individual webmasters’ AdSense revenues widely on the slunp, a general environment burdened by click fraud issues, and Google apparently not prepared to actually listen to their publishers base’s concerns, it seems very likely that the idea of a “publishers union” to evolve as an instrument of pressure will increasingly take hold.
It’s certainly too early to reliably gauge how effective this will be but in any case it does go to illustrate the rapid rate at which Google is losing sympathy, support and fundamental acceptance of its (now former) support base.
