PayPerPost: Clickthru Rates on Sponsored Posts Way Higher than AdSense
What with all the ongoing hoopla about Google bashing paid links, reciprocal links and basically anywhich links that haven’t begged for their inquisitory Stamp of Approval, this recent release by paid-blogging enterprise PayPerPost almost qualifies for comic relief:
I don’t know how many blog postings and articles I have read that have falsely assumed that readers don’t click through on sponsored posts. People like Jason Calancanis, Mike Arrington and others would have you believe that nobody is interested in this content and the value it provides. I believe many of these people are the same people that said nobody would ever click on a sponsored search result (enter Google representing 1/3 of all online ad spending on the back of sponsored search).
Well, lots of people have been wrong about divining which way the Internet would develop (yours truly didn’t believe that PPC would ever catch on either when Go launched it, duh…), but get this: After checking out over 40k bloggers and 8k advertisers PayPerPost claims a stately 10.545% average CTR, beating AdWords/AdSense stone cold.
Now of course paid blogging for traffic is one thing, doing it for the link love aka Google juice possibly not so much of another. But: Does it not constitute horrible, eeeeevil paid linking in Google’s baneful basilisk eyes? Shudder! And, of course, enjoy!
