Directory Marketing Reborn – What You Should Know
Directory marketing has been around for long, long time. So long, actually, that everybody seems to believe they know all about it.
As fashions go, fads will pop up and disappear again, leaving behind tons of detractor smart guys who’ll tell you they’ve known all along that whatever-it-was wouldn’t (or couldn’t) work.
Directory marketing and SEO is no different: it’s not very much in favor within the SEO community, and its critics do seem have quite a lot of valid points.
It can also be quite cumbersome: mechanical tools, typically named “directory submitters” are notoriously restricted and unreliable, as are the directories themselves more often than not, calling for lots of (costly) manual labor.
Enter IrishWonder, established long time SEO (both white and black hat), one of the oldest hands in the industry – and one of the most respected to boot. While he may not be the world’s most prolific blogger, it’s always worth a look following his posts on IrishWonder’s SEO Consulting Blog (white hat stuff) and on Irishwonder’s Black Hat SEO Blog (obviously featuring his – considerable – black hat wisdom).
Now, he’s launched a low cost ebook titled Directory Marketing Reborn and it’s the most comprehensive, no-fluff truly usable guide to, well: directory marketing (including link building) I’ve ever seen.
While it covers all the basics, ranging from the history of directories to why links are important, how to to find authority directories, paid directories vs. free directories, niche and local directories, how to get the most out of directory submissions, plus a slew of nifty tricks and short cuts (including reviews of excellent tools).
However, what I personally found to be the best part of it all is his bonus list of directories:
With 4073 directories, checked programmatically for their reachability and current PageRank, it is the biggest and the most current free directory list on the market.
Over 4k directories? Yes, you read right, and IMHO this list alone is definitely worth a multiple of what he’s charging for the entire book. If nothing else, it will give you a humungous overview of the countless opportunities you may (and probably will have) missed in your link building and SEO opportunities. (And yes, it’s a strictly white hat book…)
Highly recommended!
